At the Setúbal Regional Conservatory, the String Instruments area includes violin, viola, cello, double bass and guitar.
Across bowed and plucked strings, students develop technical, interpretative and artistic skills through a structured pathway, with close pedagogical guidance, individual practice and regular ensemble experience.

Violin

A bowed string instrument with a bright and expressive sound, widely used in solo, chamber and orchestral music.

Viola

A bowed string instrument with a warm, deep tone, essential in chamber music and in the orchestra, where it enhances harmonic richness.

Celo

A bowed string instrument with a low register and great expressiveness, highly valued for its enveloping sound and musical versatility.

Double Bass

The lowest-pitched instrument in the string family, fundamental for supporting the rhythmic and harmonic foundation in ensemble and orchestra.

Guitar

A plucked string instrument, usually with six strings, highly versatile and present in classical, popular and contemporary repertoire.
