Advanced pathways in instrument, music, and composition.
Prepares students for higher education and artistic or teaching paths.
The Upper Secondary Music Course at the Setúbal Regional Conservatory can be attended under the Articulated Regime or the Supplementary Regime, with pathways in Instrument, Musicianship, and Composition. The course promotes advanced technical, artistic, and theoretical development, preparing students for entry into specialised higher education and for future artistic or teaching careers.
Study plans for the Supplementary Regime follow a structure similar to the Articulated Regime, ensuring the development of the same core competences and knowledge essential to advanced music training.
Admission to the Upper Secondary Music Course requires an entry assessment, organised by the Conservatory, with an elimination pass/fail character based on the final mark achieved.
Students may apply to the Upper Secondary Music Course at the Setúbal Conservatory if they meet one of the following conditions:
They have completed a Basic Music Course;
They have successfully completed all subjects of the vocational component of a Basic Music Course under the Supplementary Regime;
If they have not completed a Basic Music Course in music, they hold the 9th grade qualification (or equivalent).
The curriculum includes:
Instrument, Vocal Education, or Composition
The Complementary Offer subject may vary from year to year; it is currently “Jazz Theory”.
Instrument lessons are individual for students in the Articulated Regime, and taught in pairs (two students) in the Supplementary Regime. In this case, lessons may be divided into one 45-minute period per student.
Vocal Education and the Optional Subject run with a minimum of 2 students, while Composition requires a minimum of 3 students.
All remaining subjects take place in a class/group setting.
